Liberty, part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jimmy Tong as Chief Executive Officer Singapore, effective 27 April 2026, subject to regulatory approval. Based in Singapore, Tong will report to Matthew Jackson, President of Asia Pacific.
Liberty Mutual has historically operated two distinct businesses in Singapore – Liberty Insurance and Liberty Specialty Markets. These businesses were unified under a single insurance license on 1 January 2026.
“In Asia Pacific, our goal this year is to operate as one Liberty in each market – creating a simpler, stronger organisation for our customers and partners. The completion of the Singapore company transfer, together with securing Jimmy to lead the business, represents a strong start to the year."
- Matthew Jackson, President, Liberty International Insurance Asia Pacific
Tong is well known to Singapore's insurance and business community, and will lead Liberty's unified Singapore business, a top 3 general insurer located at One Raffles Quay. Tong is a seasoned Singapore executive, spending the past 10 years leading and overseeing Great Eastern's General and Group Insurance for Singapore, and the prior 15 years in leadership roles at UOB.
Following Liberty's Singapore company unification, former chief executive of Liberty Insurance Yasar Fistikci has taken the new role of Chief Product Officer for Singapore. Nicole Lim, the current Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Specialty Markets has elected to explore opportunities outside Liberty and will depart the business at the end of April.
Liberty's combined Singapore business, soon to operate under the Liberty brand, now provides access to one of the region's broadest ranges of general insurance and reinsurance products, spanning personal lines, commercial insurance and bespoke solutions for major construction products, corporate clients and government entities.
