With 20+ years’ experience, Joel leads Liberty’s Property underwriting team across Asia Pacific, setting regional strategy and underwriting standards for the Property portfolio and driving profitable growth. Partnering with brokers and clients, he fosters a client‑centric culture and builds strong market relationships.

Personal Profile

Joel began his insurance career in 2004 on the graduate program of a major Australian insurer. In 2008, he relocated to London to join a global reinsurer, underwriting Property across direct and reinsurance lines in multiple territories. He returned to Australia in 2011 to focus on direct Property business and joined Liberty in 2012, bringing extensive local and international experience. Since then, he has progressed through senior underwriting and portfolio stewardship roles, and today leads the Asia Pacific Property underwriting team, partnering closely with brokers and clients to structure sustainable, long‑term solutions. Joel has completed studies with the Chartered Insurance Institute (London) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Economics, Finance and International Trade, from Deakin University. Following postgraduate studies, he was awarded Fellowship with ANZIIF.
